Student Pilot Permit (SPP)

The Student Pilot Permit (SPP) is the first permit that all student pilots in Canada need to obtain prior to conducting their solo training hours.  As a permit it is only valid for flying in Canada, and does NOT permit the pilot to fly with passengers.

  • Age

    • 14 years

  • Medical Fitness

    • Category 1, 3, or 4 Medical Certificate

  • Knowledge

    • Minimum of 90% on the Pre-Solo Test of Air Regulations (PSTAR) Exam

  • Experience

    • As per skill below

  • Skill

    • Certified ready to solo by an Instructor
